The Wellington creative scene is constantly evolving.
Right now, there’s an explosion of incredible mahi being done in the Visual Arts; vlogging, short-form video, portrait and product photography, and content creation of all kinds. So we went searching for ways that we could support the creatives of Te Whanganui-a-Tara in this sector. The answer is the Matrix Digital Content and Photography Studio
Our large Main Studio has been given a makeover, transforming it from a space used exclusively for large recording sessions, into a multi-purpose studio that can scale to accommodate shoots of all sizes.
- On one side, we’ve built a 3m Cyc Wall, and hung a 2.7m wide Paper Background Roll. This is designed to be an all-needs-met area for portrait & product photographers, and content creators. We have a collection of different Paper Background colours, and can order in colours to align with shoot requirements.
- The next wall is an enormous 7 metres wide and can be set to: podcast-style acoustic wood slatting, dark grey velvet drapes, white-screen, or green-screen. This area is perfect for larger shoots, and can be customised for almost any requirement. There is plenty of shooting depth on both of these walls.
- The rest of the space can be utilised for further flexibility: the third 4m wall can also be set-up with drapes or screens on request; attached whisper booths are available for voice-over; extra rooms are available as dressing rooms; and our experienced staff are available to assist, if your booking requires it.

- Soundproof – This photography space is situated in our main recording studio. This means you get the full acoustic benefit of a sound treated studio during your shoot. No traffic, wind noise, or echo ruining the vibe.
- Blackout – The studio is light-isolated, giving you complete control over lighting and shadows.
- Lighting – Our continuous lighting panels are perfect for all skill levels. Simple to operate, versatile and high lux.
- Casual Booking – We book in half-hour increments, and include weekends, giving you maximum flexibility and cost efficiency.
- Scalable Tech Assistance – Our engineers are available to work on your shoot, simply book them in advance for as much or as little assistance as you need. Want to add a premium quality Voice-Over record to the end of your shoot? Easy. Need to hire a camera and operator to get that extra angle? No problem. We can scale the booking to fit your exact cost and staffing requirement.
